Sega is letting the Virtua Fighter faithful update their friends and foes on their fighting game accomplishments, 140 characters or less at a time, with something new for arcades—Twitter support in Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown.
The official Japanese Virtua Fighter web site broke the news today, via Versus City, that players will be able to link their VF.net accounts with their Twitter accounts. That lets players do more than boast of their current standing and in-game accomplishments, letting you easily follow and/or stalk your VF.net Virtua Fighter 5 rivals.
Rather than tweeting your every punch, kick and move cancellation, expect tweets on par with "DK's Lau has put together a 10 game win streak at Club Sega Shinjuku #VF5FS."
Sega's latest variation on VF5 was officially unveiled in February, adding new items, costumes and other still-unspecified tweaks to the game's fighting system.
Console gamers have been enjoying the auto-feed of updates and accomplishments to Facebook and Twitter via games like Uncharted 2 and Blur, but for Japanese arcades this is still relatively new stuff.
