The Alvin Greene Dream

My favorite from that album:

For those not in the know, the primary force behind Happy End is Haruomi Hosono, one of the most imaginative and influential songwriters and musicians in Japanese music, and an electronic music pioneer. He’s probably most notable for being a founding member of Yellow Magic Orchestra (with the similarly brilliant Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi).

He’s also produced tons of amazing pop records. When I find a great Japanese pop track from the 1980s while mucking about on Youtube, I’m no longer surprised when I invariably learn, at least 70% of the time, that it was produced by Hosono.
