Total Crowdfunding for Star Citizen

Star Citizen hit a new milestone this weekend, blazing past $50 million raised in total. It is by more than ten times as successful as Torment: Tides of Numenera, the next most crowd funded game.

Just two weeks ago the Star Citizen broke $49 million. At the time project lead Chris Roberts said in a blog post, "Our plan is to scale the team based on the crowd funding, with the goal to be able to double down on development wherever it's possible to do so."

The stretch goals for $50 and $51 million were linguist-designed alien languages and some fan input on the production schedule, respectively. While writing this post, total funding for Star Citizen jumped by almost $20,000 to sit at $51,136,224.
