Too Human Co-op Scaled Back To Just Two Humans

When Silicon Knights and Denis Dyack showed off the epic Too Human to IGN last year, the outlet was right to call its four-player cooperative multiplayer mode "ambitious." The feature has been scaled back, Microsoft revealed today, keeping Too Human's campaign buddy system limited to just two players.

While the multiplayer aspect may be more limited—at least for this entry in the planned trilogy—that doesn't mean looting droid corpses for an Angelic Skull Splitter Staff of Rising Bellow will be any less fun. Besides, this game has giant bear spirits. Who could complain when you can harness the power of ethereal bears?! New co-op trailer above, new screen shots after the jump. Absorb!

Reading an interview, this is what Dyack said about why it was scaled back:

"At one point we talked about Too Human being 4-player co-op. We have reduced it to 2-player co-op. The reason we did that is we looked at it, and the way the game is really frantic, and when you have a lot of guys zooming around. We weren't sure that would play out the best. There were also all kinds of balancing issues. That's where we are spending the majority of our time now."

and

"When you play it cooperatively, you are going to see that it's really frantic - like if you pick a Beserker going at a million miles an hour. So if you had several, we thought it would be too much. So what we did was focus on the core gameplay that we knew would be strong and work that. Anyway, long story short, that's the reasoning for 2 player co-op. We know that some people are going to dissappointed, but we really think this is the right decision."

Now, watch the above video and imagine that with TWO more players in there. While initially disappointing, what Dyack said is factual and undeniable. This game would be a mess with 4 players. Tell me I'm wrong?
