Tom Kane, a prolific voice actor in video games and animation, has died at 64.

Galactic Productions, a talent agency that helps book actors and more for convention appearances, posted about Kane’s passing on its Facebook page with a tribute to his work, though it doesn’t get into specifics about his passing. Kane was publicly dealing with health troubles following a stroke in 2020, which left him unable to speak, leading to his retirement from voice acting.

Today we say goodbye to Tom Kane — a legendary voice actor whose work shaped the childhoods and imaginations of millions around the world.

From his unforgettable performances in Star Wars to countless animated series, documentaries, and games, Tom brought wisdom, strength, humor, and heart to every role he touched. His voice became part of our lives, our memories, and the stories we carry with us.

But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man. Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children — three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering. That compassion and generosity defined who he was just as much as his remarkable talent did.

Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories, and love he gave to the world will live on forever.

Rest in peace, Tom Kane. Thank you for everything.

May the Force be with you, always.

Kane’s long career included many notable roles, especially in the realm of Star Wars, where he played Yoda in animated series like The Clone Wars and games like Battlefront. His final roles included performances in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and as the narrator for an episode of the Disney+ series Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Outside of Star Wars, Kane was also known for voicing Takeo Masaki in a number of Call of Duty games, and for his work on The Powerpuff Girls, in which he played the superhero sisters’ father Professor Utonium. Back in March, Kane reunited with original cast members Cathy Cavadini, Tara Strong, and E. G. Daily at Lexington Toy Comic & Toy Convention in what would be one of his final public appearances.
