When you log into Mafia Wars today you're going to be able to check out the first new single released from Dr. Dre in more than ten years. You'll also get a chance to hustle virtually with the music icon.
While the big draw for some might be to check out the video for Kush, featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon, the chance to play a little Dre-themed Mafia Wars is a nice, more sensible addition. "Hustlin' wit Dre" is an add-on to the game that allows players to collect Dr. Dre-inspired limited edition virtual goods like headphones, a vintage car, and weapons. The special add-on will also let players of the Zynga-Facebook game to watch a special Mafia Wars Dr. Dre video message, and become eligible to win signed Beats By Dr. Dre headphones and a signed copy of his Detox CD, when it hits early next year.
"Dre is a cultural icon that has inspired generations of music lovers," said Mark Pincus, CEO and founder of Zynga. "We're huge music fans at Zynga and we know the players within Mafia Wars will love the chance to discover incredible music content while playing with their friends."
This isn't the first time a musician has partnered with Zynga in Mafia Wars. Snoop Dogg blew up a 4-ton armored truck in Nevada recently to celebrate the game's 10 millionth active user.
Why can't Dre blow shit up?
