The Xbox One ad here, which features a woman who loves playing Dead Rising 3, has been running since November 11. I just saw it in a pre-roll of a GameTrailers video today. First time I ever actually appreciated seeing a pre-roll ad!
If people are going to complain about Xbox One marketing that supposedly dismisses female gamers—as so many did last week regarding this ad—we might as well put some sunshine on an Xbox ad that celebrates one.
The most cynical take I think you could have about this ad is that the commercial is a play on the exoticness of a woman who loves DR3.
Going glass half-full, though, we see an ad here that simply suggests that games about slicing zombies are appealing to people who aren't male. What a concept!

DISCUSSION
...this commercial is terrible. I know most people on Kotaku won't recognize it but this is an abusive relationship. She ignores her boyfriend's interests and tells him 'tough luck' when she just takes it away from him. Then she proceeds to treat him as nothing more then an object twice, once by demanding he gives her a drink, then flat out sending him out because "well I'm not happy."
I know people will say I'm full of shit, but I LIVED this fucking shit, this is an abusive relationship being portrayed in this video. You only think it's funny because it goes against social norms, but what you wouldn't' find funny is when you see the impact that kind of respect lacking relationship has on a person, male OR female. Sexism WORKS BOTH WAYS people, disrespect for a human being's worth WORKS BOTH WAYS. Stop laughing at this shit.
