I admire their spirit. Their heart is in the right place. But I can't help but feel that the makers of the GameStick—the "the most affordable, open and portable TV games console ever created"—are going to be up against it.
While the premise is sound, and the $79 price tempting, claims like the fact it runs "the very richest games available today" ring a little hollow considering they're Android phone titles, and using the word "beautiful" is weird considering the controller looks like a third-party SNES pad.
The idea is that the "console" is a small stick that runs a dash which resembles that of the Xbox 360, if the Xbox 360 one was tidier and focused on games. You can plug that stick into the controller and then... play Android games on your TV.
I can't see where the market for this is, since that kind of insulated freedom is better served on devices like the 3DS and Vita (not to mention Android and iOS devices themselves), and when the Ouya is doing something similar only with more direct marketing and a cleaner product.
