The people who want to sell you the video game Homefront aren't selling pillows or hot cocoa on a cold day. Their pitch isn't cozy. It appears to be... fear?
At the big E3 show last year, they marched a fake invading army past the Los Angeles Convention Center (pictured above).
Next week, outside the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, the creators of this what-if, near-future, America-invaded game would like the locals to gather 'round and get pumped about Homefront by.... hearing about the bad things that could happen to us in the future.

Scheduled guest speaker Dr. William Forstchen, a published author and leading expert on Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) blasts, will discuss the little known, yet extremely dangerous threat posed by such an attack.

Tae Kim, a foreign relations expert and former CIA Officer who will present Homefront's fictional timeline and examine how the United States has come to suffer an oppressive occupation by a nuclear armed Greater Korean Republic in the year 2027.
Sure they're also going to have metalcore band Danger Escape Plan playing, so there's that aural massage. Otherwise, be afraid. Be very afraid.
Interesting sales tactic for a game that lets the player join an American insurgency that resists a Korean occupying force, one that has used an EMP blast from a satellite to knock out a lot of the United States' tech.
Homefront publisher THQ calls the event the "Defend Your Homefront" rally. It'll be at the Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 2 from noon to 1:30 pm Pacific.
