When an air combat game seems based on females painted on World War II bombers, you should know what you are getting into. Ditto for a game named Bombshells: Hell's Belles that stars female pilots. Bombshells, geddit? But Bombshells is more than it first appears to be.
In the game, you are facing off against an enemy known as T.O.O.L. The voice acting isn't so great and much of the dialogue is pretty corny! And the music, man...
But! once you get past those trappings (and it's easy to: I just turned off the sound), Bombshells: Hell's Belles is a fun, freemium app. Perhaps I haven't played an aerial combat game in a while, but I really like the responsiveness of the controls and had some highly enjoyable dogfights. In the past, I've always had problems with motion controls on iOS games—namely, that they are too sensitive. I also dug the combat, especially how the camera moves in closer while you fire your plane's machine gun.
Moreover, Bombshells looks nice, especially the planes. There are loads of customization options, which can gobble up your time and real world money. But even though I felt like the paywall was clearly evident, I did enjoy the free version and would definitely recommend it for those looking for an air combat title. Shell out more if you really get into the game.
