Isn't it amazing that Kotaku can be written by writers on three continents and that we can work together and share ideas all without delay or the cost of high phone bills?
I remember when I was a kid living in Thailand, the only connection we had to my grandparents were monthly cassette tapes. We would sit around one of those old portable tape recorders and talk into it. We each had a turn to say Hi, and sometimes, with cajoling from our parents, to maybe sing or tell a story. Once we had filled up the tape we would mail it to my grandparents in Georgia. A month later we'd get a tape back with them talking to us. It was a pretty slow conversation, but at least we could hear each others' voices.
Now Trish talks to her mom in Australia almost every night and if I want to I can ring you or Luke up on Skype. As neat as that is, I almost miss those slow conversations. They made you think a bit more about what you were going to say and made the hearing all the more meaningful.
