The Week In Games: Xenoblade Strikes Back

Xeno is Greek for “foreigner,” though Xenoblade Chronicles 2 hardly seems like a stranger at this point.

A cult classic in the PS1 era with Xenogears, a lackluster trilogy of vague prequels with the PS2’s Xenosaga, and then a series stumbling toward renewed JRPG greatness across three different Nintendo platforms in the modern era. Clearly Monolith Soft co-founder and series creator Tetsuya Takahashi managed to do something right all those years ago since people keep clamoring for more Xeno games, including me, even when we should know better.

Fortunately, whether on purpose or not, Takahashi and his colleagues picked the perfect time to give it another go since the start of December is all but dead, unless you count the inordinate number of ports currently flooding the Switch. Here’s everything else that’s coming out.
