There are definitely some games coming out this week.
Fortunately, they’re all so different it should be easy to choose between them. Do you sometimes just need to dance? Then maybe forgo the Nazi bloodbath simulator. Are you afraid of anthropomorphic hats? In that case it’s possible you might prefer taking a tour of ancient Egypt rather than New Donk City.
Of course, the real danger in a week like this is that plenty of otherwise good games get completely overshadowed. The Mummy Demastered comes out this week for example. If you only heard the name and didn’t otherwise know anything about it, you might be reminded of the latest Mummy movie that came out this summer and totally bombed. But the game is actually a metroidvania shooter with a classic 16-bit look and a raging soundtrack. Who knew?!
Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, the latest in a series of horror puzzle games that play like anime Edward Gorey, is also out this week, which is what I’ll personally be diving into while I sit paralyzed over what to do once Friday finally rolls around.
