They're some of the most memorable opponents/victims in all of gaming, but the Colossi in Shadow of the Colossus don't actually have official names. All this time you've been calling them "sword guy" and "flying thing" (or things presumed to be more official), but turns out those aren't canon.
They're officially nameless.
They do, however, have official nicknames.
Did you know, for example, that the first boss was called by Team Ico "The Minotaur"? That the game's fourth Colossus was labelled "Kirin", after the mythical Chinese beast it shared a resemblance? Or that the final opponent was called "Elvis", because he was the god of rock?
