Minecon, the celebration of all things Minecraft, kicks off today at 10 a.m. in Las Vegas (that's 1 p.m. Eastern). What better way to celebrate than with an infographic highlighting all of the game's many achievements.

Did you know, for instance, that game creator Notch quit his day job on his birthday? Or that Minecraft, which is said to release today, hit 4 million games sold earlier this month?

MineCon runs through to Saturday, we'll be on top of any news that comes out of the event so make sure to check back here for the lowdown. Check out the full infographic below and don't forget to clock on the bottom right expand button to see it full-sized.

Minecraft is def a unique creator. Its amazing how something so out of date to some can rise and conquer the famous. I for one like to see this. Indie games are going to go outside the box and create some of the most fun and cheaper games to buy.

At one time all i use to think about were graphics this and physics that. Now, graphics are nice but now i look for creativity or games that can pull me into the world its set in.

Cant wait to get minecraft one day, all my friends have raved about it. glad it has made such a success! kudos.
