Today brings news that Assassin's Creed and Rayman mega-publisher Ubisoft will be crafting a version of Tetris to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A next-gen Tetris needs some next-gen features, right?

We ask you, the Kotaku reader, to suggest the best possible cutting-edge features from modern gaming that should be added to Tetris.

We don't know what Ubisoft itself is planning. All we've got to go by is this:

"We welcome Ubisoft to the Tetris family. I am 100% sure they will develop one of the best versions of the Tetris game ever," said Henk B. Rogers, managing director of The TetrisCompany, LLC.

"We're very excited to start working with this world-renowned brand, and can't wait to combine Ubisoft's expertise and all the capacities of next-gen consoles to create an exciting new Tetris experience for fans," added Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft co-founder and CEO.

Oh, and before you get too clever, please be aware that EA already introduced some modern touches to the Tetris in 2012:

NOW JOIN THE ONE-TOUCH REVOLUTION IN HD! Experience the NEW Tetris® game on the big screen of your iPad! It's the Tetris® game, re-imagined – and better than ever!

ONE-TOUCH MARATHON MODE – Feel the power of this revolutionary new way to play the Tetris® game. Craft the perfect strategy and stack Tetriminos with the tap of a finger. You'll have a few options, so choose wisely!

TETRIS® GALAXY – Try this new multi-level mode! Clear to the core as you drop each Tetrimino with split-second intensity. And use power-ups to transform the blockade below!

TETRIS® LOG – Challenge your friends and show off your skills in Origin.

TETRIS® RANK – Keep a tally of every line you've ever cleared.

Gain an advantage with an optional T-Club membership and earn 15% more T-Coins and lines with every game. Spend those extra coins on Power-ups and elevate your rank with awesome 5-star scores! Also, as a T-Club member, you can earn T-Coins in each Marathon mode. You'll even get discounts on new galaxies and Tetris® music!

OK? So other than that, what should Ubisoft do for next-gen Tetris? Tell us, please.

Return Of Samus

The best version of Tetris was already released by Tengen for the NES. Unless you want to count Wetrix. Which you probably don't..
