The Kotaku Mixtape Vol 9: Tommy Tallarico

Growing up, there were certain game composers I was aware of. Uematsu? Check. Koshiro? Check. But Tommy Tallarico wasn’t one of them.

A lot of that is because he was a sound designer first, dipping his hands in everything from Prince of Persia to the best of Shiny Entertainment. He also co-founded Videogames Live, which nobody can dispute has become a beloved institution in the gaming world. And yet, looking back he did compose music for games that I hold near and dear to my heart. Games like, MDK, Cool Spot and Earthworm Jim

This week on Kotaku Mixtape, we’re listening to some of my favorite tracks from Tallarico’s catalogue, including selections from the Earthworm Jim games as well as tracks from Aladdin for the Genesis.

Also worth noting: the man owns a Spiderman room.

THE LIST:

Aladdin (Genesis) – Arab Rock

Cool Spot – Off Da Wall

Earthworm Jim – Use Your Head

Wild 9 – Track 1

Earthworm Jim 2 – Lorenzen’s Soil

MDK – Vengeful Alien
