The Japanese Hardware Contest Evens Out

It was a good week for Japanese video game hardware makers, as sales were up across the board, with the Nintendo DSi and Wii seeing the biggest boosts from the previous week.

Nintendo's portable platform likely has Made in Ore, the newest do-it-yourself WarioWare game, and Dragon Ball Z to thank for its weekly uptick in sales. Similarly, the Wii is more than likely benefiting from continued solid sales of Monster Hunter G. While Capcom's Wii remake of the first PSP Monster Hunter isn't shattering records set by the original, things hardly seem dire.

The Wii's boost in weekly sales puts it within spitting distance of the PlayStation 3. We'd expect the two to jockey for position on the charts, as a handful of interesting releases squeak out over the Summer.
