The Hulk Goes Toe-to-Toe With Farting Cat and Annoying Orange in This Week in Gaming Apps

I take four days off and what do I return to? We've got Marvel's mightiest mashing things up, a creepy citrus fruit, a flatulent cat (had that anyway), a PC puzzler gone iOS and one hell of a hexagon. That's one pretty damn strange Week in Gaming Apps.

I've spent the majority of the week sitting around playing gaming apps on various devices (whichever weren't being chewed by children at the time), but what I played during my free time is nothing compared to this spectacular array of mobile madness the team put together while I was away.

I mean, they got a good Marvel Comics game in the mix. That's nigh-impossible! Tina touched on Splice, which is a game I loved in its PC indie form. Owen got his farting cat on, which is a thing. Ash, well, Ash did his juicy thing.

What's odd is that with all of these eye-catching entries, the game I most want to play is the that there Super Hexagon. It's nice to see a game that can kick your boss' ass using only two colors. Well done!

Maybe I should go on vacation next week as well?

If you have a suggestion for an app for the iPhone, iPad, Android or Windows Phone 7 that you'd like to see highlighted, let us know.

So, maybe Marvel's console game portfolio is a collection of hits and misses. But Avengers Initiative sure makes it seem like the House of Ideas wants their portable releases to be a different story. More »

You Probably Can't Last 30 Seconds In Super Hexagon, But Buy It Anyway.

After two weeks of careful study, I have determined that Super Hexagon is the bullriding of video games. It may not look it. It may look and sound like an old Atari game that fell through a timewarp and re-emerged on the iTunes store today. More »

The Fart Comes on Little Cat Feet in Fart Cat!

By far my favorite aspect of Fart Cat!, a fun and utterly deranged iOS game that released Wednesday, comes when you finish a level. A foghorn blares, the gassy kitty smiles and purrs, the screen fills with a stinky cloud and the game tells you, very proudly, "ROOM CLEARED." More »
