The iPad Version Of Hearthstone Is Live (In Canada, Australia)

Blizzard's free-to-play competitive card game was made to be played on a tablet, and now iPad owners in Canada, Australia and New Zealand can do just that. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft for the iPad is live there, and coming soon everywhere else.

I've downloaded the game from my fake Australian account (Luke vouched for me), and it plays just as well as it does on the PC, without all the distracting other things you can do on a PC, like work. I logged into my Battle.net account, and off I went, losing uncontrollably.

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime was signed off on this comment from the official press release.

"Hearthstone's player base has already grown to more than 10 million registered accounts following the official Windows and Mac release, but we saw that a few people online were holding out for the iPad version," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "Instead of calling those folks up individually, we figured we might as well let everyone know that the global iPad rollout for Hearthstone has begun, and pretty soon it'll be available everywhere. The game is a natural fit for tablets—we encourage everyone to check it out on their couch, in their backyard, in a coffee shop . . . or anywhere else they take their iPads."

iPad owners outside of Canada, Australia or New Zealand shouldn't have too long to wait — the game plays wonderfully. iPhone, Android or Windows tablet users will have to wait much longer.
