My admiration for FarmerGnome’s epic multiplayer Spaghetti Western is rivaled only my my lack of dedication to a fake Southern accent during the first five minutes of A Fistful of Gun.

Released last week on Steam for little doggies everywhere to get along to, A Fistful of Gun is a unique little top-down pixel shooter featuring 11 different characters, each with their own unique control style.

One character might have two fire buttons on the control pad—one for each barrel of his shotgun. Another shoots arrows in the direction of the face buttons. A third can shoot in an angle by flicking the analog stick, but also has to reload all six chambers of his revolver via flicking before firing again.

Arcade mode is nice enough, giving players a series of stages with upgrades offered at the end of each. Story mode applies a narrative, as story modes do, with different levels and options every time it’s played.

But where it’s really at is multiplayer. Up to ten players at a time, all running about, shooting off their guns and getting drunk. I’ve never had the pleasure—-the servers were a bit barren when I tried, and local multiplayer isn’t an option here (at my home, that is). But I’ve seen it, and it’s glorious.

So I figured I’d share this bit with you folks, see if we can’t drum up a few more compadres for the righteous folks fighting the good fight.

The First Five is the first five minutes of a game with light commentary. Once the five minutes are up, so am I.
