If you're someone who's been disappointed by the increasingly action-heavy take that Resident Evil has taken, then the next game by Mikami—who created the seminal Capcom series—should be just what you're looking for. The Evil Within will release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. You can see Kotaku's impressions of the game here.

While I am definitely intrigued by the game, and will pick it up at some point, I find it hard to get excited when everybody everywhere is lauding it as "the return to the roots of survival horror!" or "TRUE survival horror!" when the game is clearly taking the mechanics of RE4 and putting them in a situation that appears to just be a combination of the basic premise of RE1, and the settings of RE1 and RE4.

None of this is inherently a bad thing, the game will likely still be good, but it hardly screams of being a return to "true" survival horror (and keep in mind the definition of true survival horror tends to differ from person to person) when it seems so heavily influenced by the one game in the Resi series that is responsible for the steady decline in to action.
