Bethesda’s open-world RPGs, like Skyrim, can offer up vast open worlds that you can get lost in. But they also tend to be buggy, poorly written, and have combat that is lacking. Avowed, from Obsidian Entertainment, offers up the same vibes of a big Elder Scrolls game, but with better combat, better writing, and smaller open worlds to explore that offer more visual variety and are less of a slog to trek across.
