Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

In 2024, the Switch got a full-blown remake of the best game in the Paper Mario series. After 20 years, the GameCube classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door still holds up, and is just as delightful as it’s ever been. The turn-based RPG’s time-based combat mechanics still feel novel, the writing still sparkles with humor and personality, and Nintendo undid some of the bad calls it made in the game’s localization on the GameCube. If you’ve never played The Thousand-Year Door, you should rectify that immediately. If you played it back in the day, you should still play it to remind yourself of one of the best spin-offs in Super Mario history.
