What does DJ Hero 2 and RPG series Suikoden have in common? Both feature 108 stars, though while Suikoden’s stars represent demonic overlords from an ancient Chinese story, DJ Hero 2’s stars simply represent. Check out the full list below.
Come to think of it, I wouldn’t mind a Suikoden game where instead of collecting generic party members you collect popular music artists. I find the idea of fighting evil with Lady Gaga, Puff Daddy, and Mos Def by my side incredibly appealing. It’ll never happen, but a boy can dream.
One of my main issues with the original DJ Hero was a lack of variety. While the game featured tons of artists, you’d often see the same tune represented in multiple mixes. While each mix was different, the song repetition made them feel stale.
Hopefully that won’t be a problem in DJ Hero 2. As you can see from the full list of featured artists below, originally posted at EW.com, variety shouldn’t be an issue.

If there isn’t an artist in that list that gets you at least a little bit excited, you probably don’t like music.
I’m not normally one to get worked up over music lists for rhythm games, but DJ Hero is a different animal. Rather than rehashing old music, it mashes together existing tunes into new, never-before-heard tracks. It might not be the most social music game out there, but it’s definitely the most original.
DJ Hero 2 is slated for release in October.
