So my Sony wireless headset for the PS3 arrived at my house this morning. It has a built-in rechargeable battery that is charged up via the small USB standard so your USB cable that recharges the Dual Shock 3 can be used to recharge the headset as well. The little button at the top on the left ear cup is NOT the power button; that is the button to push when you want to switch between having surround sound on or off. The power button is actually the whole outer shell; you have to tap on the top part of it pushing inward (toward your temple) and hold it for about a second to turn it on, which is indicated by the LED on your microphone piece. The power button also functions to disable/enable your microphone by a very short tap. Battery life is about 8 hours per full charge. Game/voice-chat contrast is the slider on the inner front portion of the left cup whereas volume control is the slider on the inner rear portion of the same left cup.
That said, I just played some Deus Ex: Human Revolution with it and it made sneaking around the place a bit easier because of the 7.1 surround sound. Granted, 5.1 and 7.1 3D surround sound is supposed to be a gimmick of sorts but damn, I kind of wonder how I ever got by on my 4.1 speaker setup in my living room. Because of the headset, Human Revolution's soundtrack definitely sounded a lot better. Again, this is just me going from a 4.1 Logitech Z-560 speaker setup to a Sony 7.1 surround sound headset so your mileage could vary.
The headset definitely makes playing MAG a bit easier to cope with because I can hear where people are creeping from.
