Each year, tons of licensed video game goods (and not so goods) are trucked into the Makuhari Messe, letting Tokyo Game Show attendees spend their hard earned yen on things like plush Puyos and Final Fantasy action figures.
Two companies dominate the retail area, Capcom and Square Enix, selling many a Monster Hunter jacket and Metal Slime business card holder between the two of them. Folks like Irem and Cospa show up to shill their wares, but the real action is typically limited to a few publishers. And this year, the retail space is looking barren.
