Dragon Quest X is finally getting a Nintendo 3DS release. Previously released on Wii, Wii U, Windows and smartphones, the 3DS version will use WiFi and cost 3,800 yen ($37). Out September 4 in Japan, it requires an additional subscription fee like the other versions. No word yet about a Western release for the 3DS.

Good news, Dragon Quest fans! DQ creator Yuji Horii tells VJump that the next Dragon Quest won't be a smartphone game, but perhaps, more of a weighty title. Meaning? Don't expect a casual game, but hopefully, something closer to a traditional DQ experience.

Dragon Quest is coming to smartphones in a big way. Square Enix is bringing Dragon Quest I to Dragon Quest VIII to iOS and Android. Look forward for the onslaught to start this winter when Dragon Quest I is re-released in Japan. Subsequent sequels to follow. No word about a Western release.

A cloud version of Dragon Quest X is coming to Japanese smartphones and tablets. It will be released between December 2013 and February 2014. Subscription fees are TBA.
