What is Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, the mysterious adventure game with a funny name? If you read our GDC coverage of the game, you know. If not...
It's an iPhone adventure game that's been getting its fair share of attention over the past few months, and a post over on Offworld today offers a tantalizing update. Sword & Sworcery, they say, "will modify itself based on the phases of moon in the real world." How? Something to do with mushrooms.
The game takes minimalist cues from titles such as Another World and Ico, drawing you into the game's world by, well, withholding much of that world from you. Story-telling through restraint, if you will, an art form rarely practised in video games today, many of which require prequels and comic books just to tell you it's a story about aliens and guns.
Equally striking is the bare-bones art style, which I imagine is what would have happened were Hellboy's Mike Mignola making games for the Amiga in the early 90's.
Sword & Sworcery will be out later this year on the iPhone.
