The first StarCraft II expansion is currently in beta, and many hoped that it would be out by the end of this year, but Blizzard shot down those hopes during an investors call today.


Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime says they're shooting for the first half of 2013. Heart of the Swarm will bring with it some big changes for the game as an eSport, including a player progression system, clans, resumable replays, and a whole lot of other features.

I guess that last 1% really is a bitch.

Why do their games take so long to make? Do they have small teams making their games? I know they like to spend a lot of time perfecting their games, but they don't seem much higher in quality than other games with much smaller dev times.
