The interwebs are abuzz with the news that comic book legend Stan Lee will upgrade from his usual cameo role to playable character in Activision's Spider-Man movie tie-in. Seriously?
I will give the good folks at addict of fiction this: Stan Lee does indeed say he is going to be a playable character in Beenox's The Amazing Spider-Man, due out in June across multiple platforms in time for the next film's July 3 release.
He also says he's never played a video game. He obviously doesn't know too much about them. I'm thinking maybe he got his terminology mixed up?
Not that swinging high above the streets of New York as an 89-year-old man doesn't sound appealing. I guess I'm just being skeptical. That doesn't happen often.
I've reached out to Activision for verification of Lee's statement, and will be more than happy to be proven wrong as soon as they give me a thumbs-up or thumbs down.
Until then, excelsior?
