Spines Shatter When Mortal Kombat's Thunder God Steps Into The Ring

There's gonna be big trouble in Little China when Raiden tosses his wok-shaped hat into the Mortal Kombat tournament.

We all know Raiden's story. After failing to take down Jack Burton during the Little China incident, Raiden transformed from inept villain to slightly more ept do-gooder, talking the Elder Gods into letting humanity battle the evil forces of Shao Khan from invading the Earthrealm.

After watching humanity battle for a few minutes, Raiden decided that he'd better just do this himself, because humanity sucked.

Then he helped bring down Metal Gear Ray.

Mortal Kombat hits the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on April 19.

I wish they'd go ahead and reveal Smoke. I'm still puzzled as to why they opted to put his human form in the game when his cybernetic body is much more well known among fans. Especially considering . . .

*spoilers beyond this point, read at your own risk*

. . . the whole story between him and Sub-Zero trying to escape the Lin Kuei still happens in the game, but this time Sub-Zero gets captured and turned into a cyber ninja while Smoke is the one to escape, instead of vice versa (which is what happened in the original storyline). Wat? Why the "twist"? Or maybe the twist is precisely why it was done? Who knows. Seems like an odd decision though.
