The PS3 Slim launched today in Japan — there was even a special launch event at the Yodobashi Camera in Akihabara. Kotaku Japan was on hand for the festivities.

There was a countdown and folks could check out PS3 title Mobile Suit Gundam: Battlefield Record U.C.0081 on the big screen in front of Yodobashi Camera.

The above pic was taken at 9:00AM. The first in line had gotten there at 7:00AM. The event started at 9:20AM, complete with countdown.

This is the line at 9:15AM. Can you feel the suspense? Can you?

And the doors open.

Don't worry! More folks showed up at 9:30AM to snag the console. This is a workday. People have jobs — pre-orders, too! Some people even have jobs that require them to get dressed and work in an office. Not everyone can sit in their underwear all day long.
