Senua's Saga: Hellblade II Announced For Xbox Series X

Following the official reveal of the Xbox Series X at the 2019 Video Game Awards, Microsoft showed off a trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, the follow-up to Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Sacrifice.

All the footage seen in the trailer below is captured from a build created to make the most of the new Xbox hardware, due out next holiday season. I couldn’t tell you what the hell is going on, but damn Ninja Theory knows how to make a face look good, don’t they?

Hmmm, I’m conflicted.

On the one hand, I’m happy the original was succesful enough to merit a sequel, it was a great game.

On the other hand, one of the reasons I liked the first one so much was because it was self contained, the sotry had a satisfying ending which is increasingly rare in the current world of neverending franchises. I don’t think Senua’s story needs a saga, it feels like it would detract from the character more than it would add to her, unless they can keep the level of “personal-ness” of the first one throughout, I’m not sure I can see Senua becoming a world saving heroine without the character loosing some of what makes her unique.

But hey, I’m willing to be proven wrong!

Bummed about it being an exclusive tho, hope they change that...
