Sony's recent slashing of the PSPgo's price worldwide has had a noticeable effect on sales of the download-only device, at least in Japan. The regularly triple-digit selling PSPgo just had one of its best weeks ever overseas.

The smaller, lighter version of Sony's PlayStation Portable just moved another 3,000 units in Japan, managing to outsell the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2. It came within spitting distance of the Nintendo DS Lite, but will have to settle for the glory of seventh place in this week's Media Create chart.

Elsewhere, the standard PSP is still going strong, as is the Nintendo DSi and PlayStation 3. The numbers await you below.

  • PSP - 38,874
  • Nintendo DSi LL - 32,137
  • PlayStation 3 - 28,255
  • Nintendo DSi - 23,614
  • Wii - 12,710
  • Nintendo DS Lite - 3,375
  • PSP go - 3,031
  • Xbox 360 - 2,669
  • PlayStation 2 - 1,400

How can they STILL be selling that many DS's, PSPs, and PS3s?

I mean it seems like at some point, EVERYONE who wants one would already have one in Japan and sales just can't keep going...doesn't it? Or do the same people keep buying more of them...
