PSP Dominance Gives Sony Half Of Japan’s Weekly Hardware Pie

The PlayStation Portable is still on top in Japan—thanks to MonHun Nikki!—helping, along with the PlayStation 3, to give Sony a healthy portion of the weekly hardware take in Japan.

Nintendo takes just a little bit less. As is normally the case, the Nintendo DS family is the week’s bestseller, with nearly 40,000 units sold between the three formats. Not so impressive is this week’s Wii sales. Nintendo’s home console cools its jets in fifth place, clearly a sign that the company will be going third party by the end of September. Poor guys.

For the bestselling hardware in Japan for the week of August 30 to September 5, look at this handy list.
