Portal 2 Delayed To April

February 2011's Portal 2 is now April 2011's Portal 2, according to publisher Valve. The PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sequel will now be out the week of April 18.

Valve calls this "the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays" but tries to cheer us up with this: "[I]t represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date."

[UPDATE: This story originally said the game would be out on the 18th. I apologize for the error.]

This was a failure. I'm making a note here, big facepalm. It's hard to overstate my disappointment.

Valve corporation, you do what you must because you can.

For the good of all gamers except those dead from the wait.

But there's no use crying over every delay,

you just keep on coding 'til you make a great game,

and the product gets done and you make something fun

for the gamers who are still alive...

I'm not even worried.

I'm being so sincere right now.

Even though the wait might be... forever.

You showed me great demoes.

Mind-blowing footage and screen-shots too.

So I know~ it will be great~ when it is finally done.

Now these points of data form a beautiful line,

never-ending betas,

not releasing on time,

but I'm glad you take long,

instead of doing it wrong,

for the gamers who are still alive...
