Brazilian artist Butcher Billy created an army of superpowered heroes based on iconic post-punk musicians such as Gary Numan, Siouxsie Sioux or Robert Smith from The Cure.

He didn't really have to change much on Robert Smith to make him look like Nightcrawler, though. Check out all of his illustrations below, they'd all work well both as album- or comic book covers:
