Announced this weekend for a June release in Japan, the first pair of main series Pokémon titles with the number two in the title will be hitting North America and Europe this fall.

Fans can expect plenty of surprises in Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, the tag-team sequels everyone was certain would be one game called Pokémon Gray.

Nintendo's official North American news release doesn't mention any details, but it does point out that 3DS owners can play it on their handheld in 2D, should they so choose. Yay.

This is a blow to the early buyers of the 3DS...

I can see why they would stick around with the huge market, that is the DS. Every child in Japan has one, and I can't walk into a kindergarden/elementary school here in Europe, without seeing a couple of them here and there.

On the other hand, a 3DS Pokemon game would move so many 3DS'es, that it would instantly become a succesful platform (it's still a little shaky at the moment).

I have a friend who kept saying he wanted a 3DS because of Pokemon (he's a huge fan). Now he has sold his 3DS and wanted to hear if he should buy a couple Vitas back home from USA.
