PlayStation Ad Banned For Being Too Violent

A British print advertisement for the PlayStation Move controller is banned in the United Kingdom, after a whopping eight people issued formal complaints.

The ad, which shows a man about to punch another man he has in a headlock, was deemed by Britain's Advertising Standards Authority to be too much for public consumption, on the basis the imagery may "condone or encourage violent behaviour".

While it may seem strange for the ad to be pulled on the back of eight complaints, it's worth noting that these decisions are not made on the basis of numbers. Even one complaint is enough to bring the matter to the attention of the ASA, who can then — under review — make their own decision on the suitability of the advertisement.

In its defence, Sony UK said it had "taken steps to ensure that the images were not graphic". Maybe it should have taken steps to "ensure the ad wasn't so damn ugly"?

Good news, everyone!

Fuck this generation, seriously.

Fuck it.

Everywhere I go, all I hear and see is how something is too "offensive" for someone and how that thing "offended" them. It's time to man the fuck up, society. Things like these shouldn't be banned. There is no violence depicted in the above advertisement. As far as the average consumer knows, he could be about to hug the guy. But fuck, if he were to go hug the guy, people would shit their pants over that and connect it to homosexuality.

Then, once the dispute about homosexuality is settled and the ad is pulled anyways, they'll come out with a different ad that potrays two stickmen fighting for a violence minimum option instead. Then, when someone who happens to have the magazine and happens to be a sue-happy parent catches two of their children altercating , this shit takes the fall as the scapegoat for the greedy fucks.

You want the world to be good for your kids, parents? Stop blaming your childs outbursts on the media. No, I'm not talking about this advertisement in specific. I'm talking about how people blame movies such as jackass and advertisements such as the aforementioned one as the reason their kids are dumb little shits. Get off your ass and actually be parents. If I had taken the notion that beating someone was okay from this advertisement, I would have been beaten black and blue by my father for how stupid that is.

We're too soft as a race, god dammit.
