Cobalt, the action game of "running, jumping, rolling, shooting, throwing, dancing, hacking, rolling, flying, sliding, climbing, looting, deflecting, racing, piñata-ing, passing, scoring… and even more rolling!" is now playable as a discounted Alpha version, developers Mojang and Oxeye tell Kotaku.

The game is still under heavy development, but as with Minecraft, willing gamers can pick the game up now at a discounted price and be guaranteed the final version at no additional charge. The full game is expected to sell for about $26. The current price is about $13.

Cobalt is Mojang's second game published and the first third-party developed game they're behind. In releasing this game, the company is also creating a unified Mojang account.

The alpha version of the game includes hot seat multiplayer, a look at both single player and cooperative campaign and a level editor.

The beta will include a more robust level editor, more work on the single a cooperative campaign, new in-game level sharing, more editors and support for Mac OS X and Linux.

When the game goes gold it will include all editors fully functioning, in-game level sharing, the complete main campaign and hot seat multiplayer.
