Following a number of character and logo images for Persona 6 leaking earlier this week, we’ve now got the full game reveal on our hands at last…sort of.
The trailer shared during today’s Xbox Games Showcase opened with a long series of shots of tombstones in the rain followed by a rapid series of very creepy images that I’m sure some fan will dissect shortly, and then the logo. That was it! It’s a logo! It’s green! We already saw this in the leaks anyway!
Update 2:40pm ET: The store page for Persona 6 has gone live on Xbox’s website, and it includes just a couple more details about the game. Apparently, Persona 6 will (as its predecessors did) feature a high school student leading a double life thanks to the power of their Persona, or other self. Persona 6 will specifically center on “something darker: strange rumors, unsettling urban legends, and occult incidents that only you and your closest allies can face.”
Original story continues:
Also thanks to the leaks, there’s already tons of fanart of the main protagonist, who fans have taken to calling John Persona. At first, his ridiculous bowl cut was mocked, but people have been coming around on him. It’s been so long since there was a new mainline Persona game (Persona 5 came out—holy crap TEN YEARS AGO?!) that fans have gone a little feral waiting for this one, so I imagine the very, very small amount of footage we saw today will be stretched to its limit until we get an actual reveal later.
Persona 6 is coming…sometime…for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
