Ahead of Fortnite‘s next big season, Epic has released a teaser trailer as well as a first look at the free-to-play battle royale’s upcoming battle pass. And while some people were distracted by the inclusion of a terrible streamer, many others were focused on the new bikini-top-wearing woman. It is easily Fortnite‘s most realistic, revealing skin yet, and reactions range from folks clearly being horny for the new character to people being concerned about the children.
On June 1, Epic released the first official trailer for Fortnite Season 7 Chapter 3, which launches this upcoming weekend. The trailer is what you expect from Fortnite season teasers: Flashes of new gameplay and guns, some quick looks at fresh areas of the map, and, of course, some teases of new skins coming to the game. And it was one of these new cosmetics, a tattooed woman wearing short-shorts and a bikini top, that caught the attention of many online.
When she first appeared in a teaser image on May 31, many started posting about and sharing the single image we had of her online. Fortnite dataminer and news account HypeX had a single tweet that quickly racked up over 4 million views and over 1,000 shares. So when she popped up in the teaser, this time showing more skin and confirming that there is a variant of her that doesn’t feature a coat, she became even more popular and debated online. There are already people making AI artwork of her online.

“In my humble opinion, they’re crossing a complicated line, and I personally don’t agree,” posted content creator Universo DS in response to the skin.
“Epic really must have fallen on hard times, if they’re resorting to baiting gooners into spending money on the game,” posted another user on Twitter.
Plenty of others were very…uh, let’s say excited about the skin and begging developer Epic to do more skins like this bikini-top-wearing lady or to do variants of existing skins with less clothing on.
Perhaps the most interesting reaction came from people going back through past Fortnite collaborations and pointing out how Epic seemed unwilling to show more skin back then. For example, Cammy from Street Fighter has her legs covered. Others pointed out Kitana from Mortal Kombat being more covered up than this new, upcoming skin.
Many point to the inclusion of Kim Kardashian last year in Fortnite as the tipping point. Her skin featured female cleavage, something that was very rare in Fortnite before her inclusion. Since Kim K was added to the game, however, there have been more examples of cleavage and revealing outfits ending up in Fortnite. Magik from Marvel Rivals is one prominent example of a character showing off a bit more skin than what people were used to for female characters.
So what’s going on here? Well, perhaps Epic is trying to juice player numbers and skin sales as Fortnite struggles to stay as relevant as it once was amid declining player counts and more competition. And perhaps someone at the company has shattered the glass labeled “Break to milk Gooner wallets.” If that’s the case, I expect this is just one of many revealing outfits that will show up in the battle royale game. Though I doubt anyone shows as much skin as Homer Simpson in his underwear.
