PC flight sim DCS is one of the best-looking games on the planet, even moreso with the launch of its new Supercarrier module. And while this trailer looks very Top Gun, the soundtrack...is not very Top Gun.

Don’t get me wrong, the game looks very good. Most notably there is zero aliasing. Why are more games not able to eliminate the flickering effect that immediately tells you that this is something rendered?

Also some of the textures on some of the clothing on the character models doesn’t quite scream photorealism. (:33) I also noticed a lack of motion and depth of field blur that results in the textures looking rather flat, particularly on the planes themselves. Everything is in focus! (:05 - :13)

The overall light mapping could also use some work, as there are a lot of missing shadows that make some planes look like they’re floating on nothing when they’re siting on the deck. (:44)

Another trailer they released recently that looks the same said it was a “work in progress,” so maybe theres still some tuning up to do?
