Original Astro Boy sketches fetched €269,400 ($321,233) at a recent Paris auction Drawn in the late 1950s, the six-panel strip measures 13.7 inches by 9.8 inches and shows Astro Boy fighting a foe. “It’s a world record for this artist whose works are few in the market,” said Eric Leroy of auction house Artcurial.

Considering how many pages Tezuka drew over his career you’d think his stuff would be as plentiful as Kirby pages on the collectors market.

Then again, his publishers probably didn’t go out of their way to fuck him over like Marvel did with Kirby.
