Today during Xbox’s big summer showcase, Activision and Microsoft announced the next entry in the long-running and popular Spyro franchise. It’s called Spyro: A Realm Beyond, and it’s out next year on all platforms.

Xbox calls this a “brand-new adventure” that is being developed by Toys for Bob. Here’s more info from Xbox’s official YouTube description for the trailer:

There have been rumors and leaks about a new Spyro game for a bit now, with Toys for Bob attached as the developer. The studio worked on the well-received Spyro remastered trilogy as well as Crash Bandicoot 4, and before all that, the Skylanders series, which was a spin-off of Spyro, so the folks there have a lot of experience with everyone’s favorite purple dragon. It’s nice to see Xbox and Activision investing in big, colorful platformers.
Spyro: A Realm Beyond is set to launch on Xbox, PS5, Switch 2, and PC in 2027.
