When I saw it at E3, The War of the Worlds didn't wow me. On second thought, maybe I saw the wrong level. Arriving on Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday, The War of the Worlds looks to be a serious platformer, not just something whose stylized presentation of 1953 London is pretty to look at.
A news release says The War of the Worlds will pay homage "to classic cinematic platformers such as Flashback, Out of This World and Prince of Persia." While adapted from the 1953 film, it will also feature "a new story arc, characters, locations, and sub-plots."
Yes, that's Patrick Stewart you hear narrating the the story, written by Chris Fowler. The game is confirmed for an Oct. 26 release and it will cost 800 Microsoft Points.
