People thought the Crusades were a pretty good idea. Witch burning had massive public support.

For centuries, it was believed that tomatoes were poisonous because they were acidic enough to pull the lead off of dinner plates. Mercury was once used all over the world as everything from medicine to cosmetics to magical elixirs intended to grant eternal life.

Many people believe that the world will end in December 2012, because that's when a calendar made by people who felt the need to kill a virgin regularly so that the sun would rise happened to end. Many more base their entire lives on the random movements of balls of superhot gas and chunks of rock as they hurtle through space, or the ludicrous belief that a magical sky wizard is watching everything they do and intends to reward them for being his cheerleader.

What I'm saying is that we DON'T NEED MORE EVIDENCE THAT HUMANITY IS STUPID #ds
