In an interview with Japanese business paper Nikkei, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has said his company is looking at ways to automatically beam newspaper and magazine articles to a 3DS handheld.
The 3DS can receive data while in sleep mode (powered on but the "clamshell" lid closed), and Iwata hopes that when a handheld comes across a wi-fi spot that it is able to automatically connect to, it will be able to download the material.
With tiny screens and a relatively poor resolution compared to dedicated e-readers (or even smartphones), the 3DS won't be the world's greatest e-reader, but it cold be a neat gimmick to enjoy on the side. If it ever comes to pass. And comes to pass outside Japan.
