Who knows if we'll have an Uncharted 3 to play a year from now, but at least we can be certain that we'll have a new Nathan Drake adventure we can read. The first Uncharted novel hits next fall.

Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth will be written by Christopher Golden, an author whose novels include The Ferryman, Strangewood, The Gathering Dark and a slew of Buffy The Vampire Slayer adventures.

Official plot details from the press release issued by publisher Del Rey:

Nathan Drake will embark on an all-new, original, action-packed adventure-in search of a secret that will put him on the trail of the legendary labyrinth of Daedalus, and take him from the ruins of Crete to a secret crypt deep in the heart of China!

The book won't necessarily be canon, a spokesperson for the publisher explained to Kotaku: "It's a standalone adventure, intended to not impact the continuity of the game stories. It's not necessarily a prequel or a sequel.

Scant details, but Nathan Drake's Uncharted exploits seem book-worthy to me. Agree?

Books! Reading!

Drake was face-to-face with three giant holes in the ground. One was shaped like a square. One was shaped like a circle. The other?

A *triangle*.

"C'mon, Nate, you can do this," he thought to himself as he stared at the colorful, vaguely out-of-the-way giant blocks of the exact same shape as the holes in the ground. If he could slaughter several dozen Eastern European mercenaries and crack wise all in one fell swoop, he could beat this toughie.

He scratched his perfectly coiffed hair and squinted charmingly at Elena.

Five minutes went by. Then another five.

"Wait. I've got it!"

Drake hit Select and pulled out his journal.
